Junior Wells...Man...what a treasure !...Individuality & talent galore...He has Country Blues, R&B, Soul, Funk..running through his veins ..His early recordings...are classics...that KC has provided...Here is a good modern Blues recording,,,with some nice covers... plus famous guests...including Santana, Sonny Landreth & Bonnie Raitt...I suppose that's how you promote a Blues album these days...Fortunately this album is a success...in my opinion... so get it ...And maybe make a comment

Thanks, Gus. I was wondering about this album, when I looked into Wells' discography. Reminds me of the album released by James Cotton a couple of years ago, that featured Delbert McClinton, Keb Mo and Ruthie Foster amongst others. The Cotton album, Cotton Mouth Man, is pretty good.

I can't believe how Allmusic bashes the shit out of this one. I just gave it a spin and found it to be a good listen. I like it better than "Better off with the Blues" which I used to own. But something about that one rubbed me the wrong way - the production, the vocals, the overall energy? - I couldn't put my finger on it. So I donated it to the library. This one has a more varied style, which I appreciate. Yeah, the guests are mostly window-dressing, but so what? Not amazing or groundbreaking, but certainly decent; I'd give it a 3 outta 5 if anyone cares. Thanks for posting Gus.

I finally found time to listen to this two days ago and had to play it several times. I enjoyed it greatly especially because Wells mixes so many styles and does it so well. He may not break new ground for some folks but it sure is good tonic for the soul. Thanks so much, Gus.
