You got your first taste of these sessions with Traveling Record Man but that was just the tip of the iceberg, there are 5 subsequent volumes! Many of these artists are only known through these field recordings made by Joe Bihari and Ike Turner as they drove through the deep South scouting for talent. Not every guy is some unknown genius or anything like that, but in most cases you can certainly hear why they recorded them.

I love this immediate post-WWII down home blues. It had such a special feel back then, such a special groove.
A quick comment for those with an interest in more details. This material, that on the Traveling Man, and the remaining four CDs in the series was originally recorded for Modern but is best know for appearing on the United Superior / Kent (with revised reissues on P-Vine CDs) series titled Anthology Of The Blues. Hmmm...apparently you did not notice that the relevant portion of that article had been excerpted into this post already - why would I add the parts about the other volumes before I posted them?
Your offerings give me a chance to not only get a deeper knowledge of artists of whom I have heard, but also new names to me. Your taste is worthy of the original producers.
