If you've lived in the Bay Area and you dig the Blues then you probably know of Jackie Payne. A very smooth dude with an all-pro delivery. A very nice man as well, almost forgot about him until my Unky C handed me this one - if you like it, I have a couple more.
"I Saw The Blues"" is the latest release from veteran bluesman, Jackie
Payne. The 12 tracks feature 6 original songs by Jackie and 6
interesting cover tunes. Payne has been recording and performing since
the 60s including stints with Albert Collins, Johnny Otis and more
recently the Jackie Payne & Steve Edmonson Band. His 3 recordings
with Edmonson on the Delta Groove label received many accolades
including a number of Blues Music Award nominations. ""I Saw The Blues""
features some of the San Francisco Bay Area's finest musicians
including Kid Andersen, Anthony Paule, Derrick D'Mar Martin, Bob Welsh,
Lorenzo Farrell, Ed Early, and others. This CD was recorded at the
famous Greaseland Studios in San Jose and mastered by Tom Size."

Goy it last night and listened this morning. Was new to me, but damn its tasty. Keep em coming, KC!
Jackie had a stroke before this album was released , is now living in Vegas and no longer performing. I was honored when he played my wedding 12 years ago along with Steve Edmundson - here is an early Video of Jackie very cool- "Gogo Train" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yr497kU_-Zc
Is it ok to post a link here?
His early hit "Go Go Train" was issued on Jet Stream records under the name "Jackie Paine". Trivia: Jackie's trumpet player during the Steve Edmundson period was Lech Wierzynkski, and according to Lech after Jackie quit playing he decided to do a similar repertoire/band and formed the "California Honeydrops" who are now about to tour with Bonnie Raitt. Lechlearned guitar to put down the trumpet and sing as a front man, and he aint too shabby. This young band is bringing a whole new generation soul tunes like Nickel and a nail etc, but have paid chitlin club dues!
